In March 2021, Wagamama approached us with a very simple brief –
“Can you supply us Gluten Free Crispy Fried Onions?”
In an effort to make their menu more accessible to celiac customers, Wagamama were looking to eliminate gluten from ingredients where it wasn’t required.
Crispy Fried Onions was not a product that we manufactured or supplied before.
But they fit the umbrella of Savoury Sprinkles and our passion to create allergen free and nutritionally beneficial ingredients for our customers.
So we set out on a 9 month development cycle to identify the right manufacturer, ingredients, processes, and final product that would deliver on –
- Shelf Life
- Nutritional advantages over current commercial competitors.
After 9 months of rigorous trials and tweaks, we finally created a product that not only fit the original brief of being gluten-free but was additionally-
- 22% less Calories
- 50% less Fat
- 87% less Saturated Fat
- Palm Oil Free
Since March 2022, the Cheeky Food Gluten Free Crispy Fried Onions have been used on the Wagamama menus across the country helping their mission of offering more allergen-friendly options to their customers without compromising on taste.
